The Biennial of Latin American Art in the Bronx under the auspices of the Bronx Hispanic Festival Inc. manages an event designed to stimulate creative work in the attempt to establish art as a common language in various locations in the Bronx and NYC.

Miguel Lescano, Ciudad Gótica

Miguel Lescano is from Perú.  He is a painter, printmaker, Art promoter and Curator and holds a Masters Degree in Education, specializing in Fine Arts with more than 15 years dedicated to teaching art. He has exhibited and conducted lectures in countries such as: Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Canada United States, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Finland, Spain, France, México, Peru, Puerto Rico and Switzerland.

Co-founder and co-creator of The Bronx Latin American Art Biennial. Alexis Mendoza is also the author of books, such as: “Latin America, The Culture and the New Men”; “Objective Reference of Painting: The work of Ismael Checo, 1986-2006”; Reflections: The Sensationalism of the Art from Cuba. All three published by Wasteland Press; and Rigo Peralta: Revelaciones de un Universo Mistico, publish by Argos Publications, Dominican Republic. Presently Alexis Mendoza lives and work in The Bronx, New York.

Curator and Festival Executive Director Luis Stephenberg Alers was raised in Puerto Rico. He graduated from the Puerto Rican Culture Institute School of Fine Arts, and earned a Master’s degree in painting from the Instituto Allende, Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico. Since the beginning of his career in the arts, he showed an interest in an experimental and mixed media practice, which he has maintained throughout his professional development. He uses painting, photography and installation as a form of communication between people and cultures, as well as a method for documenting and... more
